AUSTRALIA DJS FINED
Two of Australia's biggest DJs has been ordered to pay $500,000 in damages for illegally using songs on mix CDs.
DJ Criss Kross (Christopher Fraser Smith) and his record label Tower Records have been ordered to pay $450,000, whilst renowned Sydney DJ PeeWeeFerris (Peter Ferris) must pay $50,000 for not having copyright clearance.
In 2002, Criss Cross put out several compilations via his record label. He and PeeWee mixed the CDs knowing they did not have permission to use a number of tracks.
Their unlicensed use of tunes by international artists includes Kai Tracid and Reloop!!! uuuii *g*
