Steve Rachmad: Heaven’s Mouth (Ep)
Heaven’s Mouth (Ep)
Label: Ion
Fresh up his well received Ion imprint, Steve Rachmad provides three excursions into the realms of gritty minimalism that characterises a part of his work so well. Heaven’s Mouth (A1) revolves around a mesh of arpeggiated bleeps, juno-esque stabs and airy strings that neatly pulse over the duration of the track’s course, focusing more on the flow of the groove than stating anything obvious. Taking the bull by the horns, Alienated and Storm (B1 & B2) go squarely for the jugular as the former delivers in a forthright manner, pushing the envelope on the break down with some killer use of fx that crescendo to a killer peaking. The latter delivers a healthy slab of dirge, lashing out in timely fashion with hefty percussion and an incessantly growling analogue bass that’ll peel the paint from the walls in the heat of the action!
