Tresor Berlin: The Vault and the Electronic Frontier
Tresor Berlin: The Vault and the Electronic Frontier
In his remarkable documentary film, British filmmaker Michael Andrawis has finally managed to encapsulate the Tresor experience from its roots to its present place in the international techno hall of fame.
The independantly produced film includes interviews with Jeff Mills, Juan Atkins, Cristian Vogel, Surgeon, Tanith and Rok, as well as Paul Browse (Clock DVA, Systema 01), Tresor club and label founders and live footage of the first four artists including Blake Baxter. Anyone who has had the chance to spend a night in Tresor will enjoy this collage of images, music and commentary – woven into the backdrop of the legendary club’s interiors.
Although the film is not being screened at the festival, it is in the “Doc Sale” section from the 18th – 28th November. This is for film producers, editors and promoters, who are looking for films that can be entered in various international festivals. Andrawis sincerely hopes that the film will be picked up for the Berlin Film Festival 2005 and the chances look good. Tresor (with our fingers also crossed) wish Mr. Andrawis much luck and hopefully will meet at the Berlinale!
