Alex Bau: "Connected"
After 12 years of spinning records and more than 6 years of producing numerous 12"es, in the beginning only together with his friend and labelmate sven dedek under projects such as basic implant or electric envoy, but in the last years more and more also on his own, it`s now time for the first album of alex bau. and what name could fit better as "connected", if you refer to alex` djing philosophy? one the hand "connected" is mainly a perfect description of the musical program of this album, on the other hand it is as well a kind of roll-call.
The nowadays from economic problems and lethargy suffering technocommunity could profit immensely from a more common basis which has somehow gone over the last years. and this es exactly what alex tries to spread out as a kind of message during his dj-sets: we are celebrating the same kind of party, and the there is only one style of music we all go for: techno! no matter if it`s minimal, groovy, atmospheric or simply hard... and the soundtrack to this party shall feature one main criteria: it should "connect". to invent something completely new is for sure not the goal for "connected", there are much more experienced producers in alex` eyes, such as martin l. gore for example, who should be on top of any list of "favourite producers" if it comes to musical innovation. the album shall more be a kind of different and very clear message in the sense, that there are too many fascinating styles inside the techno-microcosmos as just one. of course there are different tastes, but the last we need at the end of 2004 is isolation and a lack of tolerance when it comes to electronic music. this explains the selection of tracks featured on "connected". from "dub in my mind" as a more dubby, minimal track you will hear many different styles up to a more harder, really dancefloor-orientated "sawtooth massacre". depending on the atmosphere and the mood all these tracks can help you to make your dj-set or your homesession unique. and isn`t this the main goal every dj goes for? get "connected"!!!
